Establishment of Urban Area Development Authority (UADA), Mardan

Housing is one of the most basic human needs. However, due to rapid population growth, increasing urbanization, limited government resources, and imbalanced development between urban and rural areas, thousands of families are struggling to secure safe and affordable housing. This problem has become more severe in large cities and towns, where unplanned expansion has placed immense pressure on infrastructure and public services.

In order to address these challenges and to promote planned and sustainable urban development, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa established the Urban Area Development Authority (UADA), Mardan under the relevant laws governing urban development authorities. The establishment of UADA marked an important step toward ensuring organized growth, improved living standards, and the provision of essential civic amenities in Mardan and its surrounding areas.

At present, the Urban Area Development Authority (UADA), Mardan is working under the administrative control of the Secretary, Local Government, Elections and Rural Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Authority is responsible for planning, development, regulation, and maintenance of residential and commercial schemes, while ensuring strict compliance with approved planning and building regulations.

Objectives of Urban Area Development Authority (UADA), Mardan

The major objectives of UADA, Mardan are focused on improving urban infrastructure, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring a better quality of life for the residents. These objectives include:

  1. Launching Sheikhmaltoon Town Phase- IV to cater to the increasing housing demand.
  2. Provision of external electrification facilities in Sheikhmaltoon Town.
  3. Establishment of an effective solid waste management system, including dumping grounds and landfill sites.
  4. Establishment of a separate grid station to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
  5. Provision of Sui Gas facilities in residential and commercial areas.
  6. Development of new tube wells and strengthening of existing water supply networks.
  7. Rehabilitation and improvement of the existing water supply system.
  8. Rehabilitation and upgrading of the sewerage and drainage system.
  9. Construction and rehabilitation of roads and streets within developed schemes.
  10. Procurement of additional operational equipment and machinery for efficient maintenance works.
  11. Construction of a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) for environmental protection.
  12. Extension and strengthening of power supply in coordination with PESCO.
  13. Disposal of commercial plots and construction of commercial plazas to promote economic activities.
  14. Disposal of non-utility plots reserved for education, health, and other public sectors.
  15. Disposal of constructed shops and flats.
  16. Promotion of environmental beautification, including parks, green belts, and landscaping.

 

Achievements of Urban Area Development Authority (UADA), Mardan

The Urban Area Development Authority (UADA), Mardan has successfully developed major planned housing schemes, particularly Sheikhmaltoon (Shah Mansoor) Town, which has significantly contributed to meeting housing needs and promoting organized urban growth.

  • Residential Plots: 2,777 Nos
  • Commercial Area: 154 Kanals
  • Education Facilities: 64 Kanals
  • Health Facilities: 6 Kanals

Sheikhmaltoon Town Phase-II

  • Residential Plots: 1,961 Nos
  • Commercial Area: 15 Kanals
  • Education Facilities: 29.63 Kanals
  • Health Facilities: 2 Kanals

Sheikhmaltoon Town Phase-III

  • Residential Plots: 501 Nos
  • Commercial Area: 4.6 Kanals
  • Education Facilities: 4 Kanals

These developments have provided thousands of families with planned residential plots and ensured the availability of essential public facilities such as schools, health units, commercial centers, roads, and utility services.

The Urban Area Development Authority (UADA), Mardan continues to play a key role in the planned development of Mardan, with a focus on housing provision, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and improved urban management. The Urban Area Development Authority (UADA) Mardan is committed to planned urban development and the provision of modern infrastructure to improve the quality of life in Mardan, particularly in Sheikhmaltoon Town. UADA Mardan  has successfully developed Sheikhmaltoon  Town Phases I and  II providing essential facilities such as roads, water supply, sewerage, electricity,  Sui Gas and public amenities.

UADA Mardan continues to work on the improvement and rehabilitation of infrastructure in Sheikhmaltoon Town. In this regard, the cooperation of respected residents is vital. The residents of Sheikhmaltoon Town are kindly requested to cooperate with UADA Mardan, follow approved regulations, and support development and maintenance activities for the collective benefit of the community.

Together, with public cooperation, UADA Mardan aims to make Sheikhmaltoon Town a clean, well-planned and livable area.
